I am a shadow I’m the dog that still loves you I’m the smell on your clothes I’m the ache in your heart No words can dismiss me I’m a guest that will never leave I play with your heart and screw with you brain I’m the bully that haunts you. I’m the parent who ignored you I’m a tear that was never cried I’m that scar on your face I’m the sins you regret I am a shadow I’m the love that was not returned I am prayer left unanswered I am the god that you fear I promise never to leave you I promise never to leave you I promise never to leave you I promise never to leave you

She floats in like a memory, she’s moving cautiously The shag carpet parts before her feet, a breath dancing silently across the room Time stands still like an effigy, tortured by sun and rain This cheap hotel reeks of history; tobacco and beer stain the upholstery The smell of night settles upon the room Hovering, it lingers like a spent balloon Casting silhouettes against the wall A shadow play of innocence before a fall She saunters in like royalty, she’s moving gracefully The curtains wave as she passes by; sycophantic symbols of a long goodbye Is she waltzing towards some destiny, or is she wandering aimlessly? The room grows still in the fading night the perfumed air is mingling with the morning light The smell of night settles upon the room Hovering, it lingers like a spent balloon Casting silhouettes against the wall A shadow play of innocence before a fall

I don’t understand anything, I’m a stranger to this place I don’t understand anything, I’m a man without a face Ever since my mother gave birth to me, I haven’t had a rest This world has been my enemy, and I its unwelcome guest I won’t bore you with my problems, I don’t want any advice I’m not asking for your sympathy, your silence will suffice I’m walking like a shadow, like a cloud upon the ground. I’m a hero and a villain. I’m a killer and a clown. I don’t understand anything, my eyes are full of lies Everything is a fallacy, but nothings a surprise And when its time to leave this world, my last words are gonna be: Heaven, Hell or Nothingness, its all the same to me

A tourniquet of ribbons wrapped around a tree flows like snakes upon the ground. With the etiquette of children we spit into the sea and watch it form into a cloud. We roam like pilgrims upon a holy land, a ritual of mourning and loss, as the wind sings a hymn in memory of a god who dies every year upon a cross. The vagueness in our eyes, the silence on our tongues betray the longing that we feel. The droning of our prayers is floating through the air at the start of every meal. Nietzsche once said that power is the goal and pity is the enemy of life. But we live outside the bounds of probability trying to cut water with a knife. We roam like exiles upon a foreign land nostalgic for the unexamined life. Until the promise of salvation is fulfilled we try to cut water with a knife.

Heaven help us, the sky is falling, the rain is pouring We weep like failures, like sea-sick sailors. From the pan into the fire. Heaven help us, a storm is brewing, the future’s looming. Greeting violence in timid silence. From the pan into the fire. Our eyes are failing our hair is graying, oh heaven help us. Our fate’s uncertain behind this curtain. From the pan into the fire.

Ignorance 03:19
I hear them laughing, over their beers Laughing at nothing, or so it appears Possessing no worries, morals or sense As they wallow in ignorance I stare impatient, scornful and stern They never will listen, they never will learn Loud and obnoxious, vulgar and dense As they wallow in ignorance If I seem self-righteous, and filled with disdain Its ‘cause contempt’s so hard to contain I wake every morning, provoked and incensed As they wallow in ignorance I ain’t no prophet, angel or saint I’m just a man who’s prone to complaint And I’m getting annoyed, bothered and tense As they wallow in ignorance

Artists W/ Issues is the musical nom de guerre of Seattle artist John Feodorov. Mostly known as a conceptual visual artist, Feodorov was playing in bands in high school long before he showed any penchant for art. Early on, John’s music was inspired by artists such as The Kinks, David Bowie and Brian Eno. His songs gravitate towards the eclectic, philosophical and the absurd. ... more
